We created thinkbaby and thinksport sunscreen to address the growing concern of toxic chemicals leaching from consumer products. The formulation that we use has the highest level of zinc oxide (25%) as our active ingredient. The way that we formulate our zinc oxide produces a broad-spectrum solution for UVA and UVB. While the sunscreen does not go on perfectly clear like a chemical sunscreen or a sunscreen utilizing nano particles, it does go on surprisingly well. We found most of the other mineral based sunscreens to be sticky upon application. If we had to characterize the sunscreen, I would describe it as chalky. We're not saying that chalky is necessarily better than sticky, but the folks that have reviewed our product seem to prefer it for this reason. The sunscreen also falls into the category of "very water resistant". This is the highest level of water resistance as described by the FDA. The formulation can come out of the tube a little quick, so be mindful of this when squeezing the tube.
The formulas for thinkbaby and thinksport are identical. People often ask why we did this. From our past experience with our feeding sets, we realized that 5 year olds would likely object to their parents applying something with "baby" in the title. So we developed thinksport version as well. As an avid endurance athlete, I can tell you first hand that the sunscreen has provided me protection on countless hours of cycling in the Texas sun. We have also had a ton of positive responses from folks that have very sensitive skin or burn easily. When properly applied our sunscreen is a cutting edge solution for providing sun protection. But we always recommend staying out of the sun or wearing proper clothing. We also recommend that if you have known allergies or applying on an infant to always consult with your doctor, whether you are purchasing our sunscreen or another product. Please note that we never conduct animal studies on any of our products.
And most importantly, our formulation is free of biologically harmful substances. It doesn't make sense to apply something that has potential harmful effects. We admit our sunscreen is not for everyone, just people that are serious about sun protection.
